You’ve reached the weekly invitation limit on Linkedin

You've reached the weekly invitation limit - Linkedin Limits

In March of 2021, Linkedin users began reporting a new weekly limit for how many invites (connection requests) they could send per week. While we had seen a similar notification in the past, this was rebranded and appeared after significantly fewer weekly invites.

The notification reads: ‘You’ve reached the weekly invitation limit. Connections benefit you more when you know them personally, so we have weekly limits to encourage better networks. For people you don’t know, you can follow them to see their posts or send an InMail instead. If you’d still like to send an invitation, please try again next week.’

The pop-up notification looks like this:

How may Linkedin invites can I send per week?

Let’s get right down to it because that’s why you’re here. How many connection requests can you send on Linkedin per week? Remember, Linkedin doesn’t make this information public. We can only review data and reverse engineer our findings.

What we’ve observed so far, is the limit appears to vary between 100 and 300 per week for paid accounts. The weekly invite amount is likely being tested across the platform and/or not fully rolled out yet as we have not observed any correlation between accounts that can currently send more or less invites per week.

Is it a penalty?

No. At least, not yet. This is a platform wide limitation. We have yet to see if paid accounts (Business or Sales Navigator) are allowed more invitations than free accounts.

When pending invites are accepted can I send more?

At the time of writing this, no. Linkedin may move to a credit-based system where accepted invites give you a refund on credits (like Company Page invites and InMail).

When does the weekly invitation limit renew?

Right now we’re not sure if the limit is renewed weekly or on a rolling average. From what we’ve seen so far new invites can be sent on Mondays, but that may be solely because of working hours.

What should I do if I hit the limit?

To send another invite, the only thing you an do is wait. Sorry.

Why is Linkedin restricting weekly invites?

To protect their users from spam and maintain their reputation as a professional platform.

How to make the most out of your invites

Since presently the bottleneck is the actual weekly quantity of invites sent, the best way to make the most of out your invites is to try to only connect with active users who are more likely to both accept your invite and reply. And, of course, make sure your message copy is high quality.

Here are a few ways to find the most active users:

  • Use the LinkedIn Sales Navigator search parameter ‘posted on Linkedin in the last 30 days.’
  • Connect with individuals who engage with a post.
  • Save a search in Linkedin Sales Navigator, set your ‘Alert Frequency’ to ‘Weekly’
  • Only connect with the first 30% of search results
