What does the gold IN symbol (badge) mean on Linkedin?
The gold symbol you see next to Linkedin profiles is called a “Premium Profile Badge” and it means that person has a paid account. Here’s how to turn it on/off, and why it matters when you’re looking for leads.
What it looks like
You’ll see a gold “IN” profile badge next to profiles in both search and profile pages. Here are a few examples of what it looks like in Free/Premium as well as Sales Navigator:

Sales Navigator Profile Page
Turning on your Profile Badge
Step 1: Log into Linkedin and click “View profile”
Step 2: Click the Edit Pencil Icon on the right (below your banner image)
Step 3: Click the drop down arrow in the top right corner next to the “IN” badge to turn on/off Premium Profile Badge
That’s it!
Why it matters in lead generation
People who pay for their Linkedin accounts are much more likely to use them. Put extra time into building high quality relationships with those individuals and you’ll get a higher return on your time investment. If you have a paid account, absolutely turn your badge on to convey that you’re serious about business networking.
